P1 SCENE SPECIFICS

SCENE SPECIFICS
SCENE 1

The first scene in this short film is going to be a montage that consists of lots of different shots of the couple in the story to their date. It is going to start with a shot of them walking down the street holding hands. The it is going to switch to a shot of them looking at clothes in a shop, then eating ice cream. There will also be some more unplanned shots that will be more improvised but will involve the couple having fun on the date. There will be no transitions between these shots. It will simply change to the next shot. It will all be quick paced so no shot will last longer than five seconds. The camera will be moving in every shot but it will be on a tripod and sometimes on tracks too because I don’t want to give the “Home-made” film effect. I want to all to be fast and moving to represent the passing of time and how much fun the couple are having. The angles of the camera will be at head high to the couple so it’s on a more personal level and the audience feel more involved.  This scene isn’t going to fade out it is just going to stop so that the next scene that will come straight after with no transition so that it almost appears that the next scene is part of the completion at first.

SCENE 2
The next scene in this film is the scene where the couple are walking down the road talking about their future together. This is important because without this scene it wouldn't be as hard hitting for the audience when he dies.  The fact that the two young people are having this conversation suggests that they are in love and they are not planning to end what they have together any time soon. This is why it is more upsetting for the audience. The scene will start of showing them walking down the road together but it will be from the other side of the road so you can see the traffic in between them and the camera. There will be no transition from the last scene. Then once they start talking the scene will consist of close up head shots of the two of them. Once or twice it will switch to the boys hand where he is fiddling with the ring. The shot will be on his hand when he drops the ring. You will see it leave his hands and then there will be a slow motion shot of the ring falling the last few Cm and hitting the floor. The scene will then speed up again to normal time as the boy runs out and picks up the ring. The camera angle will be from the boy’s point of view looking up at the car as it comes towards him. The scene will go black without transition as the sound of the collision continues to play. This is useful because it makes the film easier to make since trying to use special effects to create the shot of the actually being hit would be hard. Also it’s more shocking and leaves more to the imagination. The sound will make sure that the audience know what has happened though.
SCENE 3
The next scene is the aftermath of the crash. This scene is going to fade in from black. The last scene would have ended in black so this will transition quite well. The scene is going to fade in to a close up shot of the girls face. It will then follow her as she runs out onto the road and kneels down next to the boy who is on the floor. This will all be in slow motion. Just before she sits fully on the floor, the shot will pan out to a full view of the collision. It will show the car stopped and the boy laid in front of it. There are also people gathered round and someone on the phone calling an ambulance. The scene will then go back into normal time and the girl will take his hand. They will have a short conversation and he will give her the ring. This part of the scene is going to involve lots of close ups. There will be close ups of their faces when they are taking and a close up of their hands when they boy gives the girl the ring. Then the scene will fade out to black again as the boy closes his eyes. This end of the scene will be a shot of the boy and the girl where you can’t really see much of everything else but you know it’s there.
SCENE 4
This last scene is where the girl is sat in the hospital waiting room thinking about how their future could of been. She has visions in her head of the two of them getting married and standing with their first child but the visions keep getting interrupted by the memory of the crash. Then the doctor comes through and shakes his head. To make this scene it means shooting three different scenes and then cutting them together in a certain way when editing. The main part of the scene is the girl sat in the hospital waiting room. She is sat alone. For this scene the camera is going to be at head height and not moving until the doctor comes when suddenly the shot is going to jump without transition to him from her point of view. This is to represent the fact the she jumps when she sees him. After a second of this she shot will change to a shot of them both. I think it would be nice if they were in front of a window and were slightly silhouetted. The shot will be of both of their full bodies standing facing each other from a distance when he shakes his head. The way the second shot would fit in is for the part of the scene where she is just sat on the chair, it would jump from the scene of her sitting there to the scene of the wedding and the first child. Sometimes one part may be transparent over the other. You will be able to see the distress on the girls face in this part of the scene. The shots of the future should be slowed down and a bit creepy and ghost like. The scene will fade out to black. Then some small facts about road safety will fade in and out of the screen. The it will end.
