P1 TARGET AUDIANCE, SIMILAR PRODUCTS AND BBFC RATING FOR MY FILM

TARGET AUDIANCE
The target audience for this short film is young people aged 14-24, Male and Female. This is because, firstly it is a short film and when I researched about short films in Unit 17 I found out that the 14 - 24 age group are the most likely to watch short films since they have the most free time. Another reason they are the most likely to watch is that usually short films are distributed around social Media like Facebook and Twitter. 14-24 year olds are the most likely to spend lots of time on social media, again because they have the most free time. So I decided that I would aim this film at this age group since they are the most likely to watch it.
I have made it suitable for this target audience by making it simple and short. This will ensure that their attention is kept and they don't get bored and switch it off before the end. They are also more likely to click on a film is they know it is only a few minuets long. Another way I have made it suitable is by basing it around an issue that effects young people a lot; Road safety. This is why the film is also subtly educational.

BBFC RATING
The BBFC rating I think my short film would get is a PG. This is because there are no mentions or sex, drugs or drinking meaning it is suitable for young people. However I'm not sure that it would pass for a U because the overall message of a U should be positive and even though the message of the film is encouraging people to be safe and aware, it may be too upsetting for really young children.

EXISTING PRODUCTS
These two prezi's are from my Unit 16 and they show how I got the idea from my short film based of an existing film.
